An Evening at Mimmo's

As I walked past the Little Caesar's store front from my parking spot I had no idea what I would find behind door number two! I was not reluctant at all to try the new Italian Restaurant in Destin. Mimmo's had only been open for a few weeks and already I was bombarded with positive comments from my friends and peers on their experience. From the looks of the crowded parking lot I was not the only curious, hungry soul wanting to taste what the fuss was about!

I opened the door and my first thought was how did I get transported from the parking lot of Target to the beautiful city of Palermo? An old world theme ran throughout the restaurant and surrounded an authentic brick oven. From what I've been told this is the spot where the most amazing pizza is created. Classy and quaint are the first words that came to mind. Kudos to the decorator who gave much attention to detail which made my dining experience that much better!

An extensive yet not overwhelming wine list was place in my hands as soon as I took my seat. Yes, this truly is Sicily! The waitress was perfectly attentive without being annoying or neglectful. The table ordered Penne a la Vodka with sausage and Eggplant Parmigianino which was perfectly cooked and delicious. The Tuna Salad was out of this world with Ahi Tuna, slightly seared on a bed of Arugula, a balsamic glaze, and chopped tomato with pickled cucumber accent.

As impressive as the ambiance and meal were I was even more impressed with the fact that it was delivered by the owner himself who floated around the restaurant all evening taking care of his guest. He truly displayed the quality of hospitality to the utmost degree!

In my opinion, Mimmo's is the best Italian restaurant in the area. Everyone that's vacationing in Destin will want to plan at least one night at Mimmo's. To all locals; my advice is to establish a relationship early. Once the word gets out it will be hard to get in!
