Beach Access in Destin

There are a number of beach access points across the miles of sugar white beaches in Destin. Whether you’re looking for the perfect spot to have a family picnic, fishing, camping, or have lunch by the Gulf, you’ll find just the right place here. We have listed each beach access area and what they have available to help you select your spot for the day:

Norriego Point – Down Holiday Isle, Norriego Point gives access to the Harbor and Destin’s East Pass. This is one of the best places around town for snorkeling. It’s also fun to swim around the Jetties or go fishing since it’s not usually crowded. You’ll likely see dolphins coming through this area. There is a good size parking lot with free admission.

Henderson Beach State Park – This is a good place for camping as there are 60 campsites and 6 pavilions with picnic areas. Bathhouse facilities are available with A/C and heat as well as outdoor showers. Along with swimming and fishing, you can take a hike around the dunes on a nice nature trail or let the kids enjoy the playground. There is a daily admission fee as well as varying overnight fees to rent campsites.

The Crab Trap – This is a popular place for the kids since there’s a playground on the beach as well as an outside bar for the parents. Plenty of free parking, outdoor showers, and lots of seafood. Beach rentals are available as well.

Pompano Joe’s – Pompano Joe’s has two free parking lots, outdoor showers and bathrooms, and a beachside bar. They’re popular for their signature drinks, Caribbean-style food, and volleyball on the beach. Banana boats, jet skis, and paddleboards can be rented behind the restaurant.

Shirah Street / Crystal Beach Drive / Pompano Street / Tarpon Street - These are each small spots in Crystal Beach with beach access. Great spots with less people but no restaurants or beach rentals and very limited parking.

Whale’s Tail – A nice beachside restaurant with downstairs bar and volleyball area. Parking is free but limited up and down Scenic Hwy 98 and usually caters to the rentals nearby (Seascape, Ariel Dunes, Majestic Sun).

Beach access off 30A often has less crowds and a quieter atmosphere. Dune Allen Beach, Ed Walline Park, and Gulfview Heights all have small, free parking lots but no restaurants on location. Gulf Place is across from Ed Walline and you can find a coffee/smoothie/ice cream shop and La Playa restaurant is right on the corner. Each have bathrooms and outdoor showers. Ed Walline and Gulfview Heights have picnic areas with pavilions.

All areas have the same sugar white sand and emerald waters that make Destin a top vacation destination. So pick your beach, sit back, and enjoy the view!
