BP Oil Spill Dollars Flow into Destin

There’s a flow coming into Destin from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. But it’s not oil sheen or tar balls, it’s a flow of money coming from BP’s relief fund.

In an effort to resurrect a tourist season cut short by the disaster, Okaloosa County is giving away a $200 Visa® Gift Card to anyone who books and stays between September 17 and October 31, 2010. The only restrictions include a 2-night minimum stay and that the vacation home, condo or hotel is located in Okaloosa County, including Destin, Fort Walton Beach and Okaloosa Island.

"I’m thrilled with this new promotion and I think our guests will be as well", says Jeanne Dailey, Owner of Newman-Dailey Resort Properties in Destin, Florida. "There are so many great events going on in Destin during late-September and October, so it’s a great time to come visit. And now our guests will have an extra $200 to spend while they’re in town."

Events to be held in Okaloosa County and neighboring South Walton during September and October include the 32nd Annual Destin Seafood Festival, featuring live music by Jefferson Starship and Loverboy, The Via Colori® Street Painting Art Festival at Grand Boulevard, and a weekly concert series featuring local Gulf Coast bands.
