Get Outside This Summer in Destin

The beaches are filling up on warm, sunny days while people spend their summer having fun in Destin, Florida. Our beautiful Gulf Coast boasts some of the best beaches in the country which have people coming back year after year. We love soaking up the sun at the beach and floating out in the water just as much as the next guy but there is even more fun to be had around here. If you happen to get beached out or just want something fun to do in the evenings, we’ve got some great suggestions for you.

Spend the weekend at the Destin Harbor for endless options of fun. You can hop on a charter boat and go fishing for a delicious seafood dinner. You can join a group on the SeaBlaster and look for dolphins and other sea creatures. Grab your friends and rent a pontoon boat to check out Crab Island. Park your boat for the day and walk around the shallow clear blue water or paddle around to meet people. Crab Island also has a few options for lunch and drinks and live music on some occasions.

There are quite a few summer concert series to enjoy each year for the whole family to enjoy. On Thursdays, head over to Mattie Kelly’s Concerts in the Village from 7-9pm. This summer’s lineup includes Rust & Gold (a Neil Young Tribute Band), Casey Kearney, and Triggerproof. Bring a blanket, lawn chair, or just stand and dance the night away! On Wednesday nights, Baytowne Wharf has live music at the Events Plaza Stage at 7pm. The schedule includes Stephen Simmons and Boukou Groove.

Sundays in Baytowne are for family fun! Bring a chair or blanket to the Events Plaza Lawn for a featured film. Each movie begins at 8pm. On Wednesdays, go to the Hub 30A for a family movie night. Movies begin at 7pm. Enjoy dinner or sweet treats from one of the many options offered at the Hub. Seaside opens Central Square Cinema for movies every Friday. Movies begin at 8pm at the Seaside Amphitheater.

This summer, you’ll have plenty to do on your Destin vacation! Spend the day at the beach or on the water and close it out with an outdoor movie or concert.
