IMAX is coming to The Grand Theatre in Pier Park Panama City Beach July 15th, 2011.
Now Pier Park is not only home to over 80 stores and 25 restaurants but come midnight on July 15th The Grand Theatre Pier Park will open the first IMAX Theatre in the area. At the opening of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 visitors of Pier Park and The Grand Theatre will get to experience Image Maximum.

‘IMAX’ technology has been hailed by both critics and viewers as the “next step” in movies. This new film technology allows the display of far larger images with a sharper and clearer resolution than conventional film systems.
Included in the upgrades is the installation of a wall-to-wall screen that reaches from the floor to the ceiling and curves slightly overhead toward the viewers. With a new state-of-the-art, wrap around, sound system audiences will feel as if they were in the movie, hearing every step the characters take.
A Bay County first, tickets have been sold out since the beginning of July. Locals and visitors can still be part of the excitement with Mayor’s Proclamation and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 8:30am Friday, July 15th. There will be a special showing of the film “Under the Sea 3D” at 9:30am.
The celebration continues with the Harry Potter themed grand opening party from 6:00-8:00pm where sporting your best Harry Potter gear is encouraged. Best dressed contest will be announced and all are welcome to join in.
