Our Pet-Friendly Gulf Coast

Geraldine Lewis and Dog

Let’s face it, some of us love our pets more than most people. Our four-legged friends become family and anyone else that understands that is ok in our book! The Emerald Coast is a beautiful place and thankfully, pet-friendly as well. When you visit Destin, Florida, bring your furry pals and enjoy lots of fun together on the coast.

Dog Parks – If you want to take your dog to socialize with other dogs and get some exercise, try the Destin Dog Park located on Indian Bayou Trail near Walmart. This beautiful area opened in 2012 and offers 3 acres with benches, water stations, and two areas to separate large and small dogs. On the other side of town, there is Alaqua Unleashed on J.D. Miller Road. It’s Walton County’s largest secured, off-leash dog park featuring separate areas for large and small dogs.

Restaurants – Many restaurants in town have indoor and outdoor seating so you can have your pup sit with you outside soaking up the warm, Florida sun rather than cooped up back home. Camille’s at Crystal Beach is located right on Scenic Highway 98 and has outdoor tables where you can enjoy smoothies, fresh juices, and delicious sandwiches. Pompano Joe’s Seafood House has amazing seafood dishes with Caribbean flavor and stunning Gulf views. The Destin Brewery has outdoor seating, cornhole boards, food trucks, and even dog treats available! Enjoy some of the best beer in town while your pet gets extra attention and you might even get to meet the Brewery mascot Daisy.

Spacious Bike Paths – Dogs LOVE running outside and we are grateful there are plenty of spacious paths along the beach roads to safely run them so you can both enjoy the salt air. Whether you are running yourself or riding a bike, the spacious paths along Scenic Hwy 98 or 30A offer plenty of room for your crew and others to enjoy an outside stroll safely.

Vacation Rentals – None of these would matter if you didn’t have a beach getaway where your furry friends could stay with you! Thankfully, there are plenty of beach homes and Destin condos that are pet-friendly so you can still cuddle up with your “kids” at the end of your busy day. Rocky is going to be so happy he didn’t have to stay home this trip!

So pack up and grab the whole crew for your Gulf Coast getaway. No need to have a cloud over your vacation while you wonder what your dogs are doing back home. Bring them with you!
