Perfect Fall Performances
Come to Pensacola Beach October 4 and 5, hop on the Art and Wine Special trolley, and take a trip through the Beach's six wine tastings. You can go to as many or as few as you want with the wine tastings, compliments of the Beach
Chamber of Commerce sponsors. The only requirement is that you are twenty-one or over.
The wine tastings will be part of the Art and Wine Weekend on the Beach which will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and noon until 5 p.m. on Sunday. Hosts for wine tastings will be Bamboo Willie's, Beach Ball Realty,
Flounder's, The Islander Lounge, Paradise Bar and Grill and the Sandshaker.
Local artists will show their works along with world renowned painters. Artists and their creations will be at the following locations: Sherry Starling at Geronimo's; Paddy O’Leary’s will show the tropical treasures of Mary Bedard;
the Holiday Inn Express will host a oil painter; Charlie Knight, tiki carver at Island Style; Anita Miller at PegLeg's; Levin Rinke Resort Realty will feature Beach beadweaver Barbara DeNunzio and artist Sonya Evans; and there will be an artist at Paradise Bar and Grill.
Kosta, a famous Russian artist will be at the Sandshaker. He is known as one of the top watercolor artists in Odessa and Russia. He is also noted for his versatility working in oils and pastels.
Jim Freeman, local woodcarver, will also be at the Sandshaker. A hot spot on the artist circuit will be at Island Realty. They will host Beach Raises Curtain On Perfect Fall Performances Artists, Performers and Wines Premier at Chamber Festival the Sisters of the Beach with their eclectic mix of artwork. Mousie,
from New Orleans, will be on hand to sketch caricatures and premier her latest posters. Mousie is a favorite of Beach residents. DJ Zemenick will show her Barrier Island Girl photography collection.
The SOBs will add some Mardi Gras glam to their tent with live music by Fewgrass. Famous musician Jim Andrews will play his sax on Saturday at
Hemingway’s. Lee Tracy will feature dazzling jewelry designers. Native Café will have an art colony all its own showing works of Jim Freeman, Tandy McMillen, Jon Winslow, Connie Carrigan, Jim Smith, Ann Brown, Jamie McMillen, Lisa Coppersmith, James Macaluso, Joyce Brown, Linda Bunnell and Terry Kasmia.
Tiki Island Golf and Games is offering soft drink tastings for kids. Artists, carvers, potters and painters will be on hand. Surf Burger will have an Island
Kids' Kiosk where Beach kids will show and sell their work to benefit the Art Department at the Beach School.
There it is - Art and Wine Weekend, with free trolley rides from venue to venue, complimentary wine tastings, live music, and loads of artwork from local and world famous artisans. Maps will be available at the Visitor’s Information
Center and each venue to guide you through the weekend.
Hotels are offering special room rates with Paradise Inn asking $88 per night, Days Inn and the Hilton Gulfront from $99. A night's stay with breakfast will be $129 at the Holiday Inn Express. Portofino Island Resort and Spa offers a
three night minimum at $186 per night.
Art and Wine Weekend is an inaugural presentation by the Pensacola Beach Chamber of Commerce. "This fantastic festival is our way of welcoming guests to visit the Beach when the October weather is perfect, most of the time.
