Spring Break Across the Panhandle

spring break

Spring Break is one of the busiest times of the year for the beach. College students look forward to it while everyone else tries to avoid the wild crowds. College break schedules are out so we can fill you in on the busiest weeks and you can plan accordingly. This week is a slow one with only a handful of colleges letting out. It looks like a good time to get some sun with the weather getting into the seventies this weekend. February 29th-March 4th will be a decent week with over 30 schools taking a break including University of Florida, University of Michigan, Ohio University, and Notre Dame University. We will expect a wave of crowds the following week of March 7th-11th with over 100 spring breaks including Florida State University, University of Georgia, University of Central Florida, and University of South Carolina. March 14th-18th will be the busiest week in town with over 2 million students out and more than 100 schools including Ohio State University, University of Alabama, Georgia State University, and University of Tennessee. Around 50 schools will be out March 21st-25th but not too many near the Destin, Florida area. Things will start to settle down after that with a smaller group over March 28th-April 1st and only 3 schools out during the April 4th-8th break.

With the winter over and the weather warming up, we’ve been eager to get to the beach. Keep these dates in mind when you reserve your Destin vacation rentals. For a full schedule of when schools will be on break, go here. Be safe and enjoy your Spring Break!
