One of the biggest winter highlights for Destin, Florida is the Gumbo Festival which will take place over Presidents Day weekend. On Friday, Feb. 13th, Marina Bar & Grill will begin the events with a seafood boil at 2pm. Fat Tuesday in the Village of Baytowne Wharf will have a Baytowne seafood boil beginning at 4pm.

The main event will begin Saturday at 12pm where visitors can try a vast selection of gumbo and vote for their favorite. While having great food and company, guests will enjoy live music by Dikki Du and the Zydeco Krewe and activities for the whole family. The awards ceremony will take place at 4pm with prizes going to “The People’s Choice”, “Area’s Best” and “Best Display”.

On Sunday, the Mardi Gras Dog Parade will fill the streets of Baytowne with a crowd of dogs in costume. It’s not Mardi Gras without floats, beads, and favors to throw out. This is a premier event for pet-lovers and an enjoyable occasion for viewers.

Then for a Mardi Gras finale celebration, the Annual Fat Tuesday Baytowne Bash Parade will be on Tuesday, Feb. 17. The Village will be flooded with more floats, more beads, street performers and lots of costumes. To enjoy the full week of events, many have reserved a Destin vacation rental in the area.
