The Flooding Aftermath

Last week, Northwest Florida got a real downpour. Between tornado watches and flood warnings, residents tried to prepare for what was to come. Many were surprised at just how much rain our area got. By Wednesday morning, Mid-Bay Bridge and Brooks Bridge were closed, parts of Highway 393 and 30A were under water, and neighborhoods received unwanted swimming pools. Thankfully, the majority of local residents avoided flood damage but some areas still require attention. The rapid rate of rainfall reminds us of the importance of emergency kits for our homes. Hopefully, we can all make preparations to ensure the least amount of personal losses.

Those who live elsewhere may be wondering what the situation looks like now. How are the beaches and is it still worth your vacation time? The tide is a little farther out but our coastline still offers stunning views and local restaurants are in business as usual. The beaches have continued to be plenty busy and we are happy to finally have warm weather. So despite whatever you have heard, Destin is still here and the Panhandle will remain a top vacation destination.
