Things to do this Summer in Destin

Summer in Destin

Summer is in full swing! Do you have big plans for Destin, Florida? Miles of pristine beaches with gorgeous blue-green water are the main attraction but there is much more to do along the coast. Here are some of our favorite things to do around town that you can add to your itinerary.

Big Kahuna’s Water Park is hard to pass up on Highway 98 when you see all the smiles going by in the lazy river. Water parks are a bonus for summer fun and Big Kahuna’s boasts over 40 different play areas, rides, slides, and pools. Besides a large selection of slides for big kids and adults, there is a splash pad section for babies and toddlers to play at. The Honolulu Half Pipe is a popular feature that simulates riding real waves at the beach without all the sand. Specials are available during select months that include discounts on passes for friends.

Beach Painting is a fun way to combine beautiful views with your favorite hobby. Grab some friends and make an appointment with Studio by the Sea to enjoy a group painting class by the beach. The Redbird Art Experience is another place where you can get creative and use your imagination to come up with your own lovely mosaic or coastal collage.

If you’re exhausted from playing in the waves all day but the kids are still eager to splash around, you can take them to the fountains in town. Destin Commons has a splash pad and playground in the center of the outdoor shopping mall directly behind Sephora. In Grand Boulevard, there are more fountains next to Cantina Laredo that light up after dark.

The Seablaster is a fun excursion for locals and visitors alike to get out on the water and see the best views of our Gulf Coast. A professional captain takes you on a tour and you sit back with friends and family looking for dolphins and other sea creatures. Go later in the day and you can enjoy a stunning sunset over the water.

Gulf Place on 30A features outdoor concerts, charming boutiques, and a number of local artists’ booths with their own unique creations. Sunrise Ice Cream & Candy recently opened and they offer a wide selection of candy, ice cream, and even arcade games. It’s in a prime location near 30A vacation rentals and directly across from the beach. This summer, plan ahead and pack your schedule full of fun on the Emerald Coast!
