What’s New Around Town
No matter how often you visit Destin, Florida, there is always something new to experience. This charming beach town has come a long way in recent years and continues to evolve in the best way. We are most excited about the work being done to expand Highway 98 to six lanes but today, we’ll give you an update on places to check out on your next trip to the coast.
Uncle Buck’s Fish Bowl & Grill is without a doubt, one of the hot spots in town. An underwater-themed bowling alley, full bar, and restaurant make it a great place for the whole family to enjoy. During the summer months, there is usually quite a wait for a game so we’ve had to plan accordingly. Not anymore! The Destin location is the first to include a state of the art arcade. Now while you’re waiting for a lane or your dinner, rack up some tickets playing your favorite games and turn them in for prizes on your way out.
Two Birds Coffee & Café opened last month in Seascape Town Center. This locally-owned café will fulfill all your caffeine dreams while providing a nice selection of breakfast and lunch options. Pair your iced latte or hot espresso with a chocolate coffee cupcake or “fancy toast”. Their fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich is the talk of the town but with a little of everything (and their own special twists), it’s hard to decide what to get! They also offer wine and beer with a rotating tap menu.
Vintij Wine Boutique & Bistro is a bit of a hidden gem and one of our favorite places for a date night. After enjoying 20 years of success in the plaza across from Silver Sands Outlet Mall, they are now moving to Grand Boulevard. This bigger location is the former Mitchell’s Fish Market space and across from the movie theatre. The upscale restaurant focuses on offering heavy tapas and gourmet entrees but it’s their high quality boutique wine selection that makes it so popular. The grand opening will be in early June and will feature breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus.
Pecan Jack’s will satisfy all your sweet cravings over on 30A. The family-owned shop has amazing homemade brittle, chocolate, and ice cream with an entire wall of all your favorite treats. Along with all the classic ice cream flavors, Pecan Jack’s offers adult flavors like Kahlua Espresso and Cherry Amaretto that you can top with delicious rum sauce. They also have pralines and chocolates infused with fine liquors. There’s something for everyone! It’s even in a perfect location near 30A vacation rentals and right across from the beach.
We are excited about all the new things opening on the Gulf Coast. Each place contributes to making this little slice of paradise unique and it’s obvious why it’s easy to fall in love with. We look forward to a fun-filled summer!
