Where the Locals Go

crab islandIt’s no secret that Destin beaches make the Emerald Coast a leading vacation destination. Award-winning shopping centers, championship golf courses, a seemingly endless selection of fine dining, and stunning scenery attract people year round to our area. If you live here, you know there are more than a few “must-see” spots. Some activities have become a tradition for visitors, such as beach and dinner at The Crab Trap or go-karts and bumper boats at The Track. We like these too but as Destin continues to grow, there is more to offer each year. The Travel Channel posted a nice article about the Top 10 Locals List for Destin. One of our favorite places to go is Crab Island, where boats can park for the day and it’s shallow enough to just walk around and play. Volleyball is set up as well as a stage that often has live music. Bring your own food and drinks or stop by one of the restaurants and grab a meal. Vendors are also available throughout the day with ice cream sandwiches or boiled peanuts. Other great places on the list are Henderson Beach State Park – a nice, quiet beach away from the crowds and the Jetties – one of the best spots for snorkeling. Whatever you decide to do on your Destin vacation, we’re sure you’ll make lasting memories and come back again soon.
