Where to go in Destin on Valentine’s Day

Just when you thought you were done spending money on your other half for the holidays, Valentine’s Day crept up. Your New Year’s resolution was probably to stop procrastinating so we are here to help you get ahead of the pack.  One month before V-day is plenty of time to plan the perfect evening.

Destin Florida has seemingly endless options for dining. From casual and relaxing to upscale and romantic, there is a variety of great places to choose from. Your go-to special occasion restaurant might be The Melting Pot or Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, both regular hot spots, but we are throwing in a few more ideas for your next romantic dining experience.

Beach Walk Café, located in Henderson Park Inn, is one of the best locations for a special occasion. Right on the water with beautiful views and a menu full of award-wining cuisine. Their specialty dishes include New Zealand Venison, Grouper Vince, and Grilled Maine Lobster Tail. Valentine’s Day packages are also available by reservation.

Not too far down the road is another favorite, 790 on the Gulf. They boast fresh Cajun-style seafood and a large selection of wine and beer from around the world with daily drink specials. Their menu offers a variety of Gulf comfort food including Louisiana Crab Cakes and Grouper Acadiana. Located in Crystal Beach, you can admire the Gulf views in a quiet atmosphere with your significant other.

Fleming’s Steakhouse is located in Grand Boulevard and is one of our favorite “any occasion” dining spots. The soft lighting is relaxing, the food is superb, and the drinks never disappoint. There is also plenty of seating so you can enjoy a private dinner. Though they are most known for their prime steaks, they also offer an award-winning wine menu, Truffled Poached Lobster, and Broiled Swordfish. While it can be busy at times, service has always been exceptional.

Vintij Wine Boutique tends to be overlooked as it is located in a plaza across from the Outlet Mall. Some may be surprised by the elegant dining area on their first visit but the charming boutique is a favorite for locals. Along with a large wine selection and warm atmosphere, they serve fine cuisine including top dishes Seared Yellowfin Tuna and Masala Roast Pork Tenderloin.

Our last suggestion will be Mimmo’s Ristorante Italiano, located near Holiday Isle in Main Destin. Not too fancy and just right for an easy-going dinner for two. They serve traditional Italian dishes including a variety of pastas, pizza and calzones. (If you’re thinking this doesn’t sound romantic, see Lady and the Tramp.) Mimmo himself is usually in-house and visits with his diners making sure everything is always on point.

These are our personal favorites to frequent. Stay tuned for our top restaurants in the 30A area. If you want to make this year extra special, book a Destin vacation rental and plan a weekend getaway!
