Why We Love Destin in the Fall

With kids going back to school, the hustle and bustle of Destin, Florida slows down a little. But only a little. There are still plenty of fun events for the rest of the year which we can all enjoy in cooler temperatures. Fall festivals are some of the most popular of the year and attract visitors from all over the country. Here are some things we’re looking forward to this fall season.

September 22nd will be the first annual HarborFest Celebration along the Destin Harbor. There will be local and regional craft beers, delicious seafood from local restaurants, and local arts and crafts. Flash Flood will be onsite performing favorite songs from throughout the decade. At 9pm there will be a fireworks finale over the Harbor.

The Destin Seafood Festival is a big attraction each year that takes place in October on the Destin Harbor. Local restaurants and vendors will come together for the biggest festival on the Harbor with live music, great food, fun and games. This year, the event will be held October 5th-7th with free admission. Along with several bands playing across the weekend, there will be special kid zones for fun games and activities.

October 12th and 13th will be the Baytowne Wharf Beer Festival. This big event will feature specialty beers from all over the nation and over 200 craft beers will be available for sampling. Visitors can learn about the different types and styles of beers from brewery representatives. There will also be live music featured throughout the festival.

On Thursday evenings, head over to Mattie Kelly’s Village Green for an outdoor concert series. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy music from local bands each week from 7pm-9pm. Area restaurants and food trucks have dinner options available to purchase or you can bring your own little picnic to enjoy. The fall lineup will include music by Emerald Gold, Pickled Pickers, and the Forrest Williams Band.

On Thursday and Friday evenings you can enjoy live music on the green at 30Avenue. This beautiful area is a coastal hot spot in a prime location near 30A vacation rentals. This live concert series is free and open to the public to enjoy great music and fun games each week. When you’re not dancing the night away, check out some of the boutiques or restaurants around the charming neighborhood.

We can see that this fall season will be packed full of fun options. Besides exciting times ahead, fall sunsets in Florida are the BEST. Plan accordingly so you can visit at the best time and enjoy all that this gorgeous coast has to offer.
